Frequently Asked Questions

Let’s Carpool combines event-based and friend-based Groups (like WhatsApp) with personal Connections (like LinkedIn) to make carpooling convenient, social, and safe.

Search the App Store for “carpool” and you’ll find hundreds of apps that mostly do the same thing — match drivers and riders along a route. Let’s Carpool isn’t one of them. We’re built for the people already going to your event, plus the people you meet and trust along the way.

Let’s Carpool is a phone and web app that makes event transportation totally convenient.

The Problem. Today, the most convenient way to coordinate rides to the same event is through WhatsApp groups, email chats, texts, and phone calls. But none of those were built for this — messages get buried, you can’t see the carpools or who’s in them, and there’s no searchability.

The Solution. Let’s Carpool combines event-based and friend-based Groups (like WhatsApp) with Connections (like LinkedIn) to make carpooling convenient, social, and safe.

It’s not Uber. It’s not Lyft. No strangers, no dispatching — just a simple tool for organizing carpools with people you actually know, plus the people you meet through the events you’re already attending.

Let’s Carpool helps event organizers and guests easily coordinate shared rides.

The event host — for example, someone planning a wedding — creates a Group in the app, such as “Rose Wedding – Passaic to Lakewood,” and shares the group code with guests via WhatsApp, email, or even on the invitation itself.

Guests join the Group using the code, where they can:

  • Find available carpools posted by others
  • Offer a ride by creating their own carpool
  • Coordinate directly with other attendees going to the same event

For convenience, multiple Groups can be created for different locations (e.g., “Monsey to Lakewood”), making it easy for guests to find the best option for where they’re coming from.

Ryan is a Rams fan whose usual crew bailed on an upcoming game. He opens Let’s Carpool, creates a carpool for the game, and posts it to the Rams Roadies group he manages. Alex, already in the group, gets a notification and requests to join. Scott, another Rams fan in the group, spots the carpool, recognizes Ryan’s name, sends a connection request, gets approved, and hops in. All three end up in Ryan’s SUV heading to SoFi Stadium, splitting the parking, and reconnecting as friends.

That’s the app in a nutshell — Groups bring people together for an event, Connections turn the people you ride with into a trusted network for next time.

Groups are the heart of Let’s Carpool. They organize carpools around a shared interest, event, or community — a wedding, sports team, concert, stadium event, congregation, club, or alumni network. When you join a Group, you can post your carpool and see all carpools shared within it.

Any user can create a Group. The creator becomes the Group Administrator and manages the name, description, and membership settings. The Group location is based on the Admin’s location and is searchable.

Any user can request to join a Group. Some Groups allow anyone to join, while others require Admin approval.

Section titled “Can I search for Groups I haven’t joined?”

Yes. When creating a Group, you can choose whether it’s visible only to members or to all app users.

Yes. You can restrict membership to your existing connections only — useful for events like company outings or family gatherings.

A Self-Verified Connection is someone you personally know and trust enough to share a ride with. You send a request, they accept, and then you can include each other in carpools.

“Self-Verified” means you make that trust decision — not us. Let’s Carpool does not run background checks or verify identities. If you wouldn’t feel comfortable riding with someone, don’t connect with them.

Use the search bar to find users by name, bio, city, ZIP code, or email. You can also view Group members and send connection requests. Update your profile if needed before reaching out. Once accepted, you’re connected.

What if I receive a connection request from someone I don’t recognize?

Section titled “What if I receive a connection request from someone I don’t recognize?”

You can view shared Groups and mutual connections to help identify them. You can also check with mutual contacts. If you’re unsure, you can ignore or remove the request — only you will know.

You can be invited directly or browse carpools posted within Groups you’ve joined.

Drivers can be reimbursed for actual out-of-pocket costs: fuel, tolls, and parking. Drivers may not charge for profit — this is a carpooling tool, not a for-hire service, and earning money from rides could affect your legal status as a driver.

The app does not currently handle payments. Riders and drivers arrange reimbursement directly. We plan to introduce optional cost-sharing via Stripe Connect in a future release.

Let’s Carpool is a coordination tool. We do not verify driver’s licenses, insurance, vehicle registration, or identities. You are responsible for deciding who you ride with and who joins your carpool.

If you are a driver, you represent that you have a valid license, a safe vehicle, and appropriate insurance coverage. Let’s Carpool does not provide transportation insurance and is not liable for incidents during rides.

Only ride with people you know and trust.

You must be at least 18 to use Let’s Carpool. Download the app, register, and get started.
